About me
My connection with clay began in childhood. Although I didn’t continue with ceramics, something about it stayed with me. Over the years, I found myself increasingly drawn to handmade pottery and the way a simple cup, bowl, or plate can transform everyday moments into something a little more special.
Working as a barista for more than eight years reinforced that appreciation. I saw how a well-made drink and a thoughtfully chosen vessel could encourage people to slow down, even if only for a few minutes. Spending time in Japan over the years deepened that appreciation even further. I learned to value quiet rituals, thoughtful craftsmanship, and the beauty of simple, functional objects.
In 2024, I finally signed up for a pottery class in Germany to learn wheel throwing. That first class confirmed what I had long suspected: this wasn’t going to be just an occasional hobby. I bought a pottery wheel and began practising at home whenever I could. The more time I spent working with clay, the more certain I became that this was the path I wanted to follow.
After leaving my job as a barista in the autumn of 2025, I spent two months in Japan, travelling, exploring Japanese ceramic traditions, and studying with master potters in Bizen. The experience was deeply inspiring, sharpening my technical skills and transforming my relationship with clay. Working with natural materials, learning traditional techniques, and living in the quiet countryside taught me patience, humility, and a greater appreciation for the process. I was honoured to take part in a noborigama firing with master potter Toshiaki Mori. It was an intense, communal, and unforgettable experience that deepened my appreciation not only for this craft, but also for the people who keep it alive.
Today, my work brings together those experiences. I create functional ceramics with an emphasis on natural materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and timeless forms. Every piece is made by hand with the hope that it becomes part of someone’s everyday life, whether that means a quiet cup of tea, a morning coffee, or a meal shared with family or friends.
